Match Preview | Dundalk away | Has to be 3 points tonight

This shithole awaits us tonight!

Happy Friday Drogs and what a nice day it is so far. Hopefully the weather will keep up for this evening for some al fresco drinking in the environs of Oriel Park. Tonight we have the first Louth Derby of 2012 on the plastic pitch and if points were being handed out for the current positions of each team then we’d have them in the bag already. However we all know that it doesn’t work like that and as always these games prove to be tight affairs despite the league positions of the respective teams. The game is also live on RTE tonight so we have a great chance to really put the scum to the sword in their own backyard!

We should win, without any question we should. We have been playing well this season and despite the recent form that we’ve had Mick should be looking to take 3 points from this game. Dundalk are in a right mess at the moment and with some of their key players likely to be missing, Rafter (Suspended) and Burns(Injured) then the task should be made a lot easier. I had a good laugh when I read that Craptown manager Jabba the Hut said that he reckons they were the better team against us this season. Well hopefully we can show them who the real better team is tonight and shut the bollox up for a while.

Team wise, GB is suspended for this one after picking up 4 yellow cards but Quigley is back from injury so should return to right back. The rest of the defence should remain the same and hopefully stop leaking sloppy goals as that has been killing us lately. In midfield I would expect Mick to put SB on the left, Gannon on the right and Crowley to partner Foley or RB in the centre. RB has been dropped lately but this game could be a good one for him to get back in and regain his early season form. Upfront I’d expect to see Fabio and Hynes start and hopefully continue the scoring form.

Mick will need to go for an attacking formation tonight, no messing. If we get on top of Craptown from the start then they won’t be able to handle the pressure will likely crumble. If we can get a couple of goals in the first 30 mins then the floodgates will open however I’d expect a tight close encounter with very few chances, but hopefully I’m wrong. The pitch will be a factor as well. It really has got worse over the years and from looking at it on the TV the last time, it looks like an awful mess. It’ll be interesting to see it up close this evening and hopefully no major injuries come up because of it. This game we have to win and if results go our way then we could be sitting pretty in third place tonight. I reckon we’ll win and confident of it too.

My prediction, 2-0 Drogs. Fabio and SB to score.

So as regards the rest of the league fixtures this evening, here’s my weekly accumulator that might win you a few bob;

Dundalk V Drogs – Drogs win

Bohs V Sligo – Sligo win

Bray V UCD – Draw

Derry V Shels – Derry win

SD Galway v Harps – SD Galway win

Waterford v Mervue Utd – Waterford win

Mons V Pats – Draw

Rovers V Cork – Rovers win

Youths V Athlone – Youths win

Right so it’s a big on today, a 9 gamer. All that above will get you 1423.31/1, so a nice tidy sum if it all comes through. Well I’m hoping anyway! Some of the other bets that might be of interest are, 9/1 to win 2-0 and 15/2 to win 2-1. Fabio is 11/2 to be first goalscorer and 17/10 to be anytime scorer. Peter Hynes at 6/1 to score first might be worth a flutter. Oh and after his exploits in the cup last week, Johnny Breen is 90/1 to score a hat-trick!

My bet of the week however is Fabio to score first and we win 2-0 @ 33/1 with PP. Go on do it!!

Right that’s my lot for today, I’m going to have a wander around Dublin this afternoon, have a few cans and then straight to Boriel for some LOI action! I don’t really believe in omens but last night on the Aer Lingus flight home, the first officer’s name was Peter Hynes and everything from take off to landing was perfect. We even got in ahead of the scheduled time. So if that’s anything to go by then we’re going to win tonight for sure!

Don’t forget, any overseas Drogs, the game is live on RTE.ie tonight, kick 7:05pm. I’ll see the rest of you nutters in that shit hole they call the away end up there later!
